Child of the Sea

For as long as I can remember, the seaside has been my home. The place where all my fondest memories lead back to. My parents often tell stories of me as a toddler being drawn to the water almost instantly… running into the ocean with bright eyes and a wide smile as soon as my daddy let me down from his arms. I did everything you’d think a child would do. Build the biggest sand castles, only to pretend I was a giant and crush them moments later… to getting buried in the sand. It was the place that brought me joy.

However overtime it has become my place of solace. Embracing me when I need a hug. Washing away my fears and all the pain a young black woman like me faces in the world we live today.

There’s something about  water that I’ve been unable to shake from diaper days. It’s almost as if I was born of the ocean, a child of the sea.

peace & positivity
